Chinese delegation from Qingdao vistis the headquarters in Haiger – milestone in the 210th anniversary year
Haiger, 22 October 2025 – On Wednesday, Weiss Chemie + Technik GmbH & Co. KG signed a letter of intent to set up a production site in China as part of a ceremonial visit by a high-ranking Chinese business delegation from Qingdao. In doing so, in the 210th year of its history marks another strategic milestone on the path of the company's international expansion.
The delegation was led by Shanwu Gao, President of the Administrative Committee of the Sino-German Ecopark, and Liu Song, President of the Sino-German Investment Promotion Center.
The guests were welcomed in Haiger by Alexander Weiss, chairman of the advisory board, a descendant of the company founder Philipp Carl Weiss, as well as Managing Director Christian Dölle and representatives from politics, administration and business in the Lahn-Dill region.
"Today is more than just a business meeting – it is a historic moment," Alexander Weiss emphasised in his speech.
"More than 200 years ago, my ancestor Philipp Carl Weiss started out with courage, entrepreneurial spirit and the idea of permanently combining materials. Today, we bring together people, cultures and markets. With Qingdao, we are opening a new chapter in our success story."
The planned production facility in Qingdao will be producing and filling high-quality adhesives and sealants for the Asian market in the future. This endeavour strengthens the Weiss Group's international presence and further expands its position as a reliable partner for customers in more than 65 countries.
Managing Director Christian Dölle emphasised the strategic importance:
"With this new presence in China, we are moving closer to our international customers while at the same time creating the foundation for growth, innovation and mutual knowledge transfer."
Weiss Chemie + Technik can look back on more than 210 years of company history. Founded in 1815 by Philipp Carl Weiss, the glue factory has developed into a globally active family business with a clear commitment to quality, responsibility and sustainability. The move to China is part of a long-term international growth strategy that includes new markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, in addition to North America.

The signing of the letter of intent marks the start of the detailed planning of the new site in Qingdao.
In the coming months, the concrete investment and construction plans will be developed together with the Chinese partner institutions.
